Position

The Senior Mine Engineer is accountable for providing working mine designs and schedules that are accurate, practical, consistent with industry standards, and comply with recommended design guidelines and all applicable codes and regulations. This is a key role in the North America Corporate Office, reporting to the Engineering Manager of Ambre Energy North America, Inc. The Senior Mine Engineer will play a vital role in developing the strategic mining direction for the Company’s coal operations. Specific responsibilities include:

• developing the mid to long-term strategic mine plans;
• producing, documenting and clearly communicating realistic and workable mine plans and schedules;
• assisting in the development of the annual budget planning process;
• optimizing pit designs, mining methods and equipment selection;
• effectively communicating with upstream and downstream stakeholders;
• identifying and promoting value-added improvements and change initiatives.

Experience with US surface coal mining required. Experience in dragline operations will be highly regarded. Appropriate qualifications (e.g. a B.S. in Mine Engineering or a related engineering degree) and skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SurvCAD, Mincom, Vulcan, Xpac or similar mining software are essential. Personal qualities will include strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and a strong regard for legislative and regulatory standards with respect to health, safety and the environment.
